The signal light at the pit exit is red. The heat is glimmering on the asphalt of
the race circuit. You have shifted into first gear; your foot is on the clutch.
Even when the car is standing still, the hoarse hissing of the 500-horsepower, naturally
aspirated engine of the Lamborghini Gallardo penetrates your driver’s helmet. Suddenly
the pit exit light switches to green. You step on the gas pedal. The enormous acceleration
presses you against the seat. The Gallardo shoots out of the pit road and is at
100 kph in 4.2 seconds.
Why train at the Academy? Why push yourself this hard? Why overdose on adrenaline?
Why take yourself to the edge?
